Diet

I have read at least 20 times that if you clean your diet up, your P will be under control. This would include a decrease in any flour(refined grains) products and refined sugar ( I'm not to sure about whole grains). I've read that you should  consume mostly green fruit and veg. (except green peppers). To my surprise tomatoes are a no no! It also recommends that you cut back on your fat intake. This means low fat dairy and more white meat. You must also consume LOTS of water. Recently I have been reading articles on exercise and P. It appears that, the more you sweat, the better it gets. I have always been an active individual but, this means pick it up. Some testamonys go on about saunas and they work for the sweating aspect of it.

Well, since I have started the cleaner diet..I have got more symptoms. More plaque spots, more sensitivity to my existing plaque and a big change in my bowels! I was getting discouraged. I went to the health food store and got an herbal concoction of Tummeric, Milk Thistle and Slippery Elm. The mixture made a noticiable difference in the inflamation. After the flare up I quit using the combo and use it on an as needed basis. The Tumuric for inflamation and the Milk Thistle for a helpper with my liver when I eat prepared food with lots of additives or when I might have a drink or two. My P is on the mend and I can notice a difference in it every day. At first it worsened but, as the days go by and I stick to my regime it heals.

Dandelion root can replace milk thistle, can't it?

Milk thistle is more of a liver treating extract, dandelion root is a liver flusher and is great for the digestive system as a whole.  It can replace coffee as it has a similar taste.  If one is going off of caffiene all together, the withdrawls will be minimal with the dandelion root.  The main thing that caught my attention is that dandelion root is benficial to people with ezcema and psoriasis.  There is nothing mentioned about milk thistle bringing relief to our skin.  Don't get me wrong, if you have liver problems stay with the milk thistle.

As a side note, I was brushing up on my science and found it noted that the hormone form of vitamin D is responsible for telling our immune systems not to attack us.

Viki you seem so educated on this. I am quit surprised that you haven't found http://www.psoriasis.org/netcommunity/sublearn03_comp_natural.  There are even some testamonys on how the milk thistle cleared some ppl up.talkpsoriasis.org/showthread.php?t=32840.

Dandelion is good for your Body as a whole. PPL with P have a toxin over load in the body which can be the fault of liver function and ability. Pppl with P can not utilize vitamin D as it should be. Again....could have something to do with the liver. I don't have the "answers" and you don't either but, I love to exchange information! :)
