Absolutely. I get so tired of people asking me if I have poison ivy, burn marks, rug burn.... and my favorite... aids. I understand that it is just lack of exposure and information on their part... but come on... nobody wants to hear those questions every day.
The way you respond to a question regarding your psoriasis, has a HUGE impact on the way a person reacts to the condition.
I used to allow my self-esteem to suffer because of this ~ but I learned to accept it as part of me and realize it just adds color to my already vibrant personality! ;)
I found that in most instances, I was my own worst critic! I remember anxiety FILLED days, at just the THOUGHT of meeting someone new and having to explain what it was to them. Most often, new people didn't even ask.... if they did it was usually "is that contagious" (which imo they have a right to ask) and then "does it hurt you". People will most often only "over-react" or react badly if you yourself perceive it negatively.
You are unique and beautiful ~ you are PERFECTLY made in the eyes of your creator! Isn't that all who matters? Life is far too short not to enjoy as many experiences as you can. Get out and LIVE!!!! :) :) :) Life IS GOOD!
I'd have to answer no but that's because I was diagnosed as a small child. To me I've always had it and I've never known otherwise. Now there were times where I allowed others to affect my self esteem by teasing me but as an adult...No. I sometimes forget that I'm different than other people. I do have moments of being self concious but I know everybody does that. I rarely notice if people are staring...I just don't care. Life is too short to care what a few "strangers" think.
